Do you pray as a family before your children's bedtime? If not, I think you should try it.
A regular prayer time starts instilling good prayer habits in our kids, and helps them to realize that they can talk to God about anything and everything. Also, just a few minutes talking to your kids about their day, their triumphs, failures, joys and worries, can bring you closer as a family and help you to understand their needs.
Working with the Strong Catholic Families group at our parish school, we created a summer activity book with a "Passport" theme, with the idea that intentional activities with your family, especially in the summer months, can form deep roots of spirituality and faith that will have positive effects throughout your children's lifetimes.
Families can complete the activities in the book, and then write the name of each activity and the date completed on a visa stamp in their passport. At our parish school, there will be prizes handed out for completed activities and passports.
